2014 - steel wire, wool

I miss this wall in my old studio. It had so much character.

This one took me 9 months to make. I covered her with doilies made from off-white sock yarn:

And then I covered the doilies in needle-felted wool:

I hung her in a dark corner near the ceiling, a place where a caterpillar might feel safe. I put a lightbulb inside her. I didn’t notice it until I photographed her that the light spilling out of her armholes had given her wings.
